Cute! Not just Njord!! I've never seen so many double entendres in one comic strip. Can't wait to see the telescope!!

Good lord! I guess it's true what they say ... there is someone out there for each and every one of us! Even Richard finds someone who is as cheesy as he is. At least Mr. Norway can pretend to use the English is not my first language excuse. Unfortunately, most Norwegian guys speak English better than most Americans and thanks to global TV know all the latest slang (but Richard doesn't have to know that lol).

OMG, what a dog that Richard is, eh? (So, is the Morgan story over, or is this just setting us up for the next chapter there...)

So, Njord's moved in just prior to the Perseid Meteor Showers. This could be fun.

(Hey, how come it never rains at Kyle's B N B?)

I'm glad Richard's getting a storyline but I would love to see some more Frosty!

Norwegians tend to speak very good english -not like me-
Specially one with scientific backgrounds.
Still, nice story :-)

Oh yet again another typical Richard twink boy sexual yawner. Richard spouting his same tired sexual come ons and will usually result in infantile hijinks.

Out of 8 planets, why does it has to be Uranus?!

i hope richard gets a boyfriend and this episode was too funny. :)

Guilty pleasure at the velveeta dialogue...

Moon around uranus? I guess the cliffhanger is whether or not Njord was playing along or was thinking this was a regular conversation.

Perhaps Richard will find a more serious soul in Njord and find new (developmental) depths with that telescope.

Time will tell.

Must be summer!

I hope they are both familiar enough with Shakespeare's works if this is to become an interesting play on words. The regular Uranus jokes lose their spark by the time most people reach 6th grade. Richard is, obviously, not most people.

I hope people realize that this Golden Girls/48 Hours use of the funny "Jah, I am Eee-nga vrom Sveeden" isn't real. People from Norway and the area actually speak very good English.

This is the equivalent of having a gay guy talk with a lisp. Probably just as insulting.

jesus fuck, this comic is written for childish idiots.

Njord??? Why couldn't he have a ordinary namne like Harald, Trond, Runar, Espen, Odd, Bård, Atle, Stian, Tor, Erling or just Terje?

It's Carry On Kyle.

Ooh err, Missus!

Cue Mrs Slocombe: "My Pussy..."

Am I the only one here to see in perspective the superficial-vs.-intellectual conflictual love story line?

P.S: discovering a moon of Uranus does NOT make one well known in the astronomy world, perhaps in the amateur astronomy world (and I'm not really sure even of that)... still, cute episode ^^

I feel sorry for Greg. He tries to venture to new territories and he gets blasted by the message board. Tri a transsexual angle, he is told it's not real. He tries to include straight women, he is told they look like men and their support of gay issue sounds suspect. He tries to make Richard more of a three dimensional character, and he is told that it is an immature approach.

So I would like to thank Greg for giving us one of the best gay comic available online and off.

But Greg, a comic strip is much like writing. If you don't write about what you know, it will miss the mark. That's why writers spend so much time on research. You know your neighborhood, for example, so you don't need to research street names, or the kind of parks that are around, or the weather. But unless you have a transsexual in your life, you should read a lot about the topic if you are going to use it prominently in a thread.

If you want to write about the advertising industry, talk to people in the business, read about it. Read about the ripple effect that cutting advertising money has had on radio station, on television, on so many newspapers that have been shut down. You would be less likely to write about flying execs and promoting unknowns in this economy.

Even such a cute thing as a Norwegian astronomer. Uranus has several moons which have been discovered through the Hubble telescope. Discovering new moons, while exciting, will not make you stand out as really famous in the field. Really famous are the ones who discovered the possibility of fluid water on one of Saturn’s moons.

The problem of having a successful strip is that as your audience expands so does its cumulative knowledge, and so your job becomes more complex.

On the other hand, if you stay with what you know, the B&B and the real people who occupy it, you will hit the mark each and every time. You do not need to introduce exotic characters to spice up the stories. Regular people create enough real drama all on their own. Think Seinfeld.

I think some people are missing the point. The Njord character discovered the moon of Uranus when he was FOURTEEN years old. Maybe it wouldn't be as big a deal for an average astronomer, but for a 14year old kid to make that kind of discovery, that might give him some notoriety. Just adding my 2 cents.

And he did n't find anything else since? In Astronomy, when new things are discovered every second, some discovery of a moon ages ago won't make you famous. Your name will be in a book somewhere, someone would be kind enough to open a wiki page for you, but famous for a Uranus moon at the age of 14, which judging by the illustration was more than a decade ago? Hmmm

Also adding my two cents and happy to see the comics geberating so much discussion.

How insulting, Norwegians usually speak much better english than this, and words like "hello" and "yes" are never confused with "Hallo" and "Ja" by people under fifty.

But though I never personally met anybody called Njord myself, norwegian public records list 19 living men called Njord today.

Sometimes the writer lapses into typical gay cliches and the same ol same ol sexual banter and come on storylines. Case in point anything that involves Richard is always him coming on to yet another new arrival at the B&B - does this guy ever act like and adult or even have a life outside his dick? I know he's a pissy little queen but this guys life is so one-dimensional ,every panel hes in relates to him coming on to someone or talking about sex. Guys like him are a dime a dozen ,the fem circuit boy with orange hair who is perpetually 29. Gimme a break and dont get me started on the really bad writing for this weeks strip - the uranus gag and the lame pickup lines and banter. Greg , unless your going for the teen potty humor set , i suggest avoiding storylines like this

The Richard story line I liked best was when he was trying to be butch and then decided to be himself. Cliche but I still like it because the fem hate is still so prevalent in many gay circles.

I think Greg is trying hard to make Richard three dimensional, but we have been hard on him here and thwarted every attempt with criticism. Developing a character needs time and Greg is never going to please all his readers all the time. But he has pleased us often enough that we keep coming back.

I say let's trust him and give him some breathing room to experiment with Richard and get him out of the Peter Pan rut.
